Student Information

 Hollywood Barber College (HBC) offers flexible learning options for both full time and part time students.  To obtain a barbering license, 1200 hours of training are required (reduced to 200 for those with a cosmetology license.)

Students have up to 12 months to complete their course those most finish in 7 and 10 months depending on their schedule and attendance. We provide both daytime and evening classes, with operating hours from 8 am to 8 pm Tuesday through Friday and 8 am to 3 pm on Saturdays.

Admissions Policy

Hollywood Barber College is accepting students for admission once the following criteria
have been met:
o Must be 16 years of age or older.
o Applicant must provide a valid, current, government-issued picture ID, such as an Arizona Driver’s license, Arizona ID Card, other state issued ID, or Passport.
o Provide their Social Security number or TIN.
o Submit application form and a non-refundable application fee of $10.00.
o Must attend a school tour.
o Provide a copy of his/her High School Diploma, or GED or their transcript showing high school completion or documentation proving completion of homeschooling at the secondary level as defined by state law or have evidence that verification of a foreign student’s high school diploma has been performed by an outside agency that is qualified to translate documents into English and confirm the academic
equivalence to a U.S. high school diploma.
o An academic transcript (or diploma or certificate of completion) showing completion of at least a two-year program that is acceptable towards a bachelor’s
degree, of will substitute for a Highschool diploma or GED and:
• Evaluation of the validity of a High School Diploma: Regulation 34 CFR 668.16 (p) requires Title IV schools to establish policies and procedures to confirm the authenticity of high school diplomas in the event that the school or the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education has reason to question the validity of a student’s high school diploma. The school may require
further documentation in the form of a certified copy of final high school transcripts for the high school in question or information from a company that evaluates foreign diplomas (in the case of a foreign diploma) and translate them into English.

• Hollywood Barber College will then confirm that the student is eligible for Postsecondary instruction. Student self-certification is not considered sufficient proof of validity. In addition to checking online for further information about the school issuing the diploma and its accreditation, the school may also contact the Department of Education in the state in which the diploma was issued to determine if the school listed on the diploma is on the state list of recognized schools.
• The school maintains a list of known diploma mills for the admissions staff to check when receiving a diploma from an unknown and questionable source.
• Barber Crossover Program students only must provide a valid Arizona State Cosmetology license, prior to enrollment.
o Ability to Benefit Exam (ATB): In the event of student not provided high school diploma or equivalent the student may use Hollywood Barber College ability-to-benefit policy, in compliance with NACCAS guidelines. The student will sign ability-to-benefit Admission form acknowledging that the student will be evaluated at 225 clock hours. At that evaluation point, the student must achieve minimum 75% attendance and 75% grade point average in theory and practical exams taken. If the student does not achieve those quantitative and qualitative Satisfactory Academic Policy minimum standards, the student will be terminated. The student would be responsible for institutional refund calculation charges, based on scheduled hours at the last date of attendance.
o This institution has not entered into an articulation or transfer agreement with any other institution.
Once above items are complete and presented to school enrollment staff, student is ready to pay registration fee of $120 and complete an enrollment agreement.

    Available based on financial need. Arizona@Work (Pima County One Stop) has partial grants for qualifying students. The time to explore the resources available to you is worth the effort. Contact (520) 724-9649 for more information.

    DES Vocation Rehabilitation

    DES Vocational Rehabilitation supports individuals with disabilities.  Call (520) 628-6810. To qualify, you must provide medical records.

    We also accept funding from the Veterans Administration Vocational Rehabilitation.

    Graduation Requirements

    In order to complete the program and be awarded a Diploma and students must have completed
    the required clock hours according to their contract and:
    • Passed a final comprehensive written and practical examination with a score of 75% or better.
    • Completed the program of study according to State requirements.
    • Completed exit paperwork
    • All financial obligations to the school must be complete prior to graduation
